COVID TIMES diary ( Warsaw, Poland from March 16th until June 6th 2020)
Poland confirmed its first case of COVID–19 on March 4th, 2020.
To battle the spread of SARS CoV-2 coronavirus, the first restrictions were announced on March 8, with a nationwide lockdown imposed from March 15 for all citizens, except for travel to work and for essential needs. Sanitary cordon was introduced at the country's borders. People were allowed to visit doctors, shop for essential items, walk their dogs, go out to help the elderly and family members. Poles were completely banned from gathering in groups of three or more, unless they are members of a single household. Religious gatherings could involve only five persons at one time. Restrictions remained in place until April 19th. Schools and kindergartens were closed until the end of the semester. On April 20 a six-week ban on visiting parks and forests was also lifted. The presidential election was delayed by one month from May to June.
